The soils of Grand Lieu area are favorable to vine growth.
The vines spread to the south of the river Loire and to the east of Grandlieu lake. The combination of varied soils, oceanic climate and natural irrigation contributes to the diversity of grapes, giving light and fruity wines.
There are about 30 winegrowers on our territory producing different wines : white, red, rosé or sparkling.
A wine tourism circuit of 118km by car takes you to meet our mysterious lake and the vineyards of Grand Lieu.
Throughout the loop, you can stop off at one of the five areas labeled "tourist cellars" or a restaurant, to taste the wines of the AOC Muscadet-côtes-de-Grandlieu and accompany it with pike-perch in white butter sauce or eels from the lake.
- From Nantes, take this Wine Route by car to reach the Lac de Grand-Lieu at Saint-Léger-les-Vignes. Take the small roads through landscapes of vineyards and bocage, passing through the town of Sainte-Pazanne and the countryside of Saint-Mars-de-Coutais.
- In Saint-Lumine-de-Coutais, enjoy the highest panorama of Lake Grand-Lieu from the church tower, or stop off at the Canal du Grand Port for a break with a view of the lake in winter or marshes in summer.
- In Saint-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu, push the doors of the Site de l'Abbatiale-Déas for a medieval interlude to discover the miraculous history and unique architecture of this former Carolingian abbey.
- Also take advantage of one of the accommodations located on the route to spend a night in a gîte, guest room or unusual accommodation.
- Follow the loop to La Chevrolière and Passay, the fishing village of Lac de Grand-Lieu. To complete the stroll through the typical alleys of the village and the view of the lake from the summer port or the winter port, discover La Maison des Pêcheurs du Lac de Grand-Lieu and its panoramic tower with an unobstructed view of the nature reserve.
- In summer, let yourself be tempted by a commented discovery of the birds at the Ornithological Observatory of the Grand-Lieu lake in Passay, or a canoe trip on the Ognon from the Pont-Saint-Martin nautical stop.
- Continuing towards Saint-Aignan-de-Grand-Lieu, the site of Pierre-Aigüe offers you a new window on the almost infinite expanse of Lake Grand Lieu.
- Finally, find the Maison du Lac de Grand-Lieu in Bouaye, which for the mild summer evenings, at specific times, offers wine and appetizer tastings with winegrowers on the terrace of the Guerlain Pavilion.
