This windmill witnessed the execution of the Billot brothers, Jean-Marie and Simon, both millers and both shot to death on April 13th 1793 during the Mayence army transit.
A memorial was created there and inaugurated on September 12th 1954.
Inside, the marble slabs are named after the 272 victims of the Terror period (nearly a quarter of the population at that time).
Outside, on the mill wall, a cross commemorates the death of the two brothers.
